Meet the Alpa assistant: ask about your restaurant, in your own words

Nobody opens a restaurant because they love spreadsheets. You open one because you love the food, the room, the regulars. Then the numbers arrive: margin percentages, cost lines, payout statements, and somewhere in there the answer to the only question that matters, which is how the restaurant is actually doing.

We built Alpa so that answer would always be up to date. Today we are making it easier to reach. Alpa now includes an assistant, and you can simply ask.

Someone to ask, whenever you need it

The assistant lives in your dashboard and works like a knowledgeable colleague who happens to have read everything: your till reports, your bank statements, your invoices, your delivery statements.

You ask in your own words. What did I make last week? Why is my margin lower than in May? Is Deliveroo costing me more than it used to? It answers in plain language, explains the trend behind the figure, and tells you where the number comes from.

There are no tables to decode and no jargon to learn. If a report would help, the assistant points you to the right one, but you never need to start there.

Honest by design

A few principles guided how we built it, and they are worth stating plainly.

It only ever uses your restaurant's real numbers. Every answer is grounded in the data already flowing through Alpa, and the assistant shows you its source. When it does not have the data to answer, it says so rather than guessing.

It explains, it never touches. The assistant helps you understand your books; it never changes them. And it will not pretend to be your accountant: it is very good at explaining what is happening in your restaurant, and the decisions stay yours.

The easiest way to set up Alpa yet

The assistant also removes the most tedious part of getting started. Setting up Alpa is now a conversation: it walks you through connecting your till and your bank, tells you what each connection unlocks, and suggests what to add next to make its own answers sharper. If you have been meaning to forward your invoices or link a delivery platform, it will nudge you at the right moment and take you straight there.

Available today, in beta

The assistant is live for every Alpa customer now, marked as beta. That word means something specific here: we are at the beginning, and we will be paying close attention to what you ask and where the answers fall short. If it gets something wrong or leaves you wanting more, tell us. This is the most direct way you can shape where Alpa goes next.
